Through this course, participants will delve into Emergency Action Planning, learning crucial strategies for evacuation, lockdown, and sheltering in place to ensure safety during such critical incidents. The course also emphasizes the importance of Grief Counseling and PTSD support for individuals affected by the trauma of these events. Participants will explore methods to provide emotional support and professional counseling to help survivors and witnesses cope with their experiences. Additionally, the course addresses the emotional impact of incident anniversary dates on the community. Participants will learn how to prepare for and manage these sensitive times, ensuring continued support and resilience within the community. Furthermore, the course will explore Victim Assistance Programs, which are essential in providing comprehensive support and resources to those affected by acts of violence. These programs aim to help victims navigate the aftermath of such incidents, offering financial, emotional, and legal assistance. By the end of this course, participants will be well-equipped to implement effective response strategies, provide essential emotional support, and utilize victim assistance resources to foster recovery and resilience in the aftermath of an active shooter event.
