Course description
This course introduces intermediate level users to panels, specifically slicer panels. The course starts with a demonstration of a completed panel with an emphasis on the use of the Selection pane. Students begin with a starter report and progress through the lessons until they have a working slicer panel that they created. Work begins with the panel itself, using various shapes and property settings to create the panel. Placement and sizing on a page are implemented next and tested. Slicers are now added to the panel and made members of the object groups that constitute the panel. More testing follows. Images, appearing as buttons, are added next to provide for functionality. Stock buttons are examined for prototyping, but images are used. They are supplied with the course files. Bookmarks are introduced with their various uses, with a focus on screen snapshots and slicer states. Finally, actions are applied to the images to make the panel functional. Final testing follows. Students follow the instructor incrementally through the work. An exercise guide comes with the course files. This exercise guide contains the steps that the instructor performs throughout the lessons. Many students find this helpful. A discussion about other possibilities closes the course and a few more notes are made about how panels behave when a page is published to a shared workspace.
