Effective cyber security training is critical in safeguarding our organization’s digital assets. Intellezy’s cyber security video courses have truly equipped our employees with the practical knowledge and skills they need, empowering them to proactively identify and mitigate risks and ensure a secure environment for our organization and stakeholders.

Result

After delivering Intellezy’s two cyber security video courses to its workforce, a Learning & Development company in the northeastern United States found a significant improvement in the results of its email phishing tests. A company-wide phishing test conducted after the video courses were assigned and delivered to employees resulted in a 0% compromise rate across the organization.

Background

Cyber security is of the utmost importance in today's digital age. The interconnected nature of our world and the exponential growth of technology have created an environment where valuable data, sensitive information, and critical infrastructures are constantly at risk. One Learning & Development company in the northeastern United States recognized this and wanted to provide its employees with flexible, effective cyber security training to identify and eliminate digital threats, while also being able to test the effectiveness of their cyber security training.

Objective

The company needed to effectively train all members of their team on cyber security best practices, giving them the skills and knowledge needed to identify, prevent, and report any cyber threats they encountered. They also needed to be able to conduct tests to determine the efficacy of the training.

Corporate Phishing Training Solution

In February 2023, the company conducted two blind organization-wide phishing tests with Microsoft Automated Templates, in conjunction with their Managed Services Provider. These tests resulted in a 4.76% account compromise rate, meaning that if this were a real-world phishing attempt, the accounts of 4.76% of users (3 users in total) would have been compromised, giving bad actors a potential “in” to the company’s systems and Microsoft accounts.

As a follow-up to these tests and as part of Cyber Security Month, the company assigned and delivered Intellezy’s two cyber security courses to all of its employees in March 2023: Cyber Security for the End User (Beginner) and Cyber Security for the End User – Identifying and Preventing Advanced Threats (Intermediate). These courses are designed for everyday computer users and take a deep look at types of cyber security attacks and best practices to prevent them. Over the course of the month, the company also emailed staff supporting materials that included real-world examples and current events related to cybercrime awareness.

In April 2023, the company conducted another blind organization-wide phishing test with Microsoft Automated Templates, in conjunction with their MSP. This time, the account compromise rate was 0%. A few users did click the link in the test emails, but none of these users entered their information on the phishing test webpage. In addition, more than half of users reported the email via the “report phishing” button in Outlook.

Finally, in late May 2023, the company once again ran two simultaneous phishing simulations that varied slightly from previous tests. No individuals at the company failed these tests. This indicated that not only did the employees better spot and report these phishing tests, but they continued to do so at least 2 months after the training they received on cyber security. Additionally, this organization was able to mention on their cyber insurance renewal questionnaire that they conducted the above testing,, potentially saving thousands of dollars on their cyber insurance premiums.
