Course description

Claude Design Foundations introduces general employees and non-designers to Claude Design, Anthropic's workspace for building on-brand visual work through natural language. The course opens with the single idea the rest of the material builds on: Claude Design's output quality is a direct function of the design basis a learner provides, ranked from a full design system down to a text-only prompt. From there, learners take a guided tour of the Claude Design home screen, learning to read the prompt box, the design-system selector, and the model and template controls well enough to avoid the most common setup mistake, which is leaving an organization's default design system active by accident. Learners then see the fallback path for producing polished work before a real brand design system exists, using one of Claude Design's built-in design systems and comparing how the same prompt looks across two different systems. The heart of the course is Approach A, attaching an existing branded file, first a PowerPoint deck and then a Word document, and asking Claude Design to study its colors, fonts, spacing, and tone, then produce new material in that exact same style, without setting up a design system at all. The course closes with a practical framework for choosing an export format, PDF, PowerPoint, or a share link, based purely on who is receiving the work and what they plan to do with it. By the end, learners can produce credible, on-brand visual work using Claude Design without any design-tool background.
