Course description
This course introduces learners to efficient data selection and entry methods in Microsoft Excel 2019, helping them work quickly and accurately with large or complex datasets. It begins with selection techniques using the mouse and keyboard to choose single cells, contiguous ranges, and non-contiguous groups across a worksheet, and shows how Ctrl and Shift let you add or remove specific cells or ranges without losing current selections. The course then covers commonly used Excel commands that streamline workflow, including keyboard shortcuts for copy, paste, cut, and formatting that align with other Microsoft Office applications. Learners also explore contextual menus, the Format Cells dialog box, and Paste Special options for customized data handling. Next, the course focuses on AutoFill and Fill features, showing how to replicate or extend patterns, fill series such as months or numbers, and adjust fill options to include or exclude formatting, while comparing the AutoFill Handle with the manual Fill command. Finally, it introduces Flash Fill, which recognizes patterns to populate data such as full names, phone numbers, or custom text combinations from existing columns. By the end, participants can select, copy, and manipulate data with precision, use automation to save time, and apply advanced entry techniques for consistent, accurate workbooks.
