Course description
This course demonstrates how to quickly and efficiently format data in Microsoft Excel 2019, focusing on number formatting, the Format Painter, and clearing unwanted styles. Learners begin in the Number section of the Home tab, practicing how to format numerical data and recognize the differences among General, Number, Currency, Accounting, and Percentage formats. Lessons show how changing decimal places, adding thousand separators, applying comma delimiters, and selecting the correct style improves clarity and consistency across a worksheet. Participants learn when Accounting is preferable to Currency, how to display percentages accurately, and how to make large numbers easier to read. The course then introduces the Format Painter as a fast way to copy and apply consistent formatting across cells, ranges, or sheets. Learners practice extending font colors, fills, and borders from one area of data to another to save time and maintain a professional look. Finally, the course covers resetting or removing formatting with the Clear command, including options to clear formats, contents, comments, and hyperlinks for selected cells or an entire worksheet. This helps refine and simplify presentation without affecting the underlying content.
