Course description
This course shows how to add attention-grabbing text and useful embedded objects to worksheets with WordArt, text boxes, and related insertion tools. You’ll start by creating text boxes for titles, labels, and callouts, then format them with fills, outlines, effects, and precise size and rotation. You’ll learn the difference between text stored in cells and text placed in movable objects, and how contextual Drawing Tools streamline styling and layout. Next, you’ll apply WordArt presets for fast, polished typography, customize color and outline, and understand how WordArt differs from a plain text box. Arrangement techniques are covered in depth: bring forward/send backward, align to grid or content, snap options, grouping multiple elements into a single unit, rotating accurately, and using the Selection Pane to name, show, hide, and manage layers as designs grow. You’ll also explore commonly used inserted objects that improve presentation and navigation, including headers and footers for consistent titles or page info, signature lines, and quick structures like tables and charts created from the Insert tab. Throughout, you’ll see when to use styles versus manual formatting, how to reset formatting, and where alternative text improves accessibility for viewers using assistive technologies. By the end, you’ll understand how to blend text treatments and objects to make worksheets clearer, more readable, and easier to navigate without adding clutter.
