Course description

This course guides new users through the essentials of Microsoft Teams, the collaboration hub in Microsoft 365 that brings chat, meetings, files, and apps into a single, organized workspace. You will learn the different ways to access Teams across desktop, web, and mobile, and understand why using the desktop app often offers the most complete experience without being required. The lessons then walk through the interface from the left-hand navigation rail—Activity, Chat, Teams, Calendar, Calls, and OneDrive—to customization options such as pinning, reordering, and adding apps like Planner, OneNote, and Power BI. You will see how the Teams calendar syncs with Outlook to streamline scheduling, and how meeting chats, files, and recordings remain accessible in one place. Next, the course explains the search and command bar for finding messages and files, launching actions, and speeding up routine tasks with shortcuts. You will also review profile menus, help resources, and keyboard shortcuts that surface tips, updates, and troubleshooting tools. Finally, the content demystifies presence status, showing how availability reflects your calendar, how to set Do Not Disturb or Be Right Back with durations, and how to add work location and status messages to guide colleagues. By the end, you will be able to navigate confidently, tailor the workspace to your needs, communicate clearly, and support smooth collaboration across your organization. You will also recognize how pinned apps, notifications, and search filters work together to reduce context switching and keep important work visible and organized
