Course description

This course explores how to use chat effectively in Microsoft Teams to streamline communication, enhance collaboration, and keep conversations organized across individuals and groups. Learners begin by understanding how chat integrates into Teams as the primary tool for quick, direct communication. The course explains how to start one-on-one chats, create and manage group chats, and recognize meeting-associated chats that include recordings, transcripts, and attendance. It demonstrates how to pin important chats for quick access, organize pinned conversations by priority, and customize chat order using drag-and-drop controls. Participants also learn how to mute, unpin, and mark messages as unread, and how to filter chat lists by person, status, or meeting. The course details formatting and messaging tools—such as bold, italics, highlighting, color, bulleted lists, and tables—to create clear and engaging messages. Learners will explore how to add emojis, GIFs, and stickers to enhance communication and see how loop components enable live collaboration within chats. It also covers sending files securely using OneDrive or SharePoint links, adjusting permissions, and accessing shared files from the Chat tab. Group chat management is explored in depth, including adding participants, naming and customizing group icons, controlling chat history visibility, and using tabs for shared files or notes. Finally, learners will see how to start spontaneous meetings directly from a chat, manage reactions, and use message tools like translation, task creation, and immersive reader for better accessibility and productivity.
