Course description
This course provides an introduction to navigating, organizing, and understanding data in Microsoft Excel 2019. Learners explore efficient ways to move through worksheets using both mouse and keyboard controls, gaining confidence in selecting, highlighting, and managing individual cells, rows, columns, and ranges. The course demonstrates key navigation shortcuts such as Ctrl + Home, Page Up, and Page Down, and explains how to use the Name Box and contextual menus to locate and format data quickly. Participants also learn the importance of correct data formatting, including how Excel interprets entries as numbers, text, currency, dates, or times. Through practical demonstrations, learners see how improper formatting can affect formulas and calculations, and how to use the Format Cells dialog box to customize cell behavior for specific data types. Building on this foundation, the course introduces cell addressing and range referencing, showing how to identify individual cells and both contiguous and non-contiguous ranges within a dataset, then apply those references in formulas for greater precision. Finally, learners explore Excel’s inking tools on the Draw tab, using them to annotate and highlight spreadsheet content for collaboration and visual emphasis. By the end of the course, participants will be able to navigate data confidently, format information accurately, and improve workbook clarity.
