Course description

While Excel 365 is best known for its data management and analysis capabilities, it also provides powerful tools for inserting and formatting objects and graphics that can enhance the clarity, presentation, and impact of worksheets. This course introduces learners to the different types of visual elements that can be added to spreadsheets, starting with images. Participants will learn the distinction between placing images over cells, which allows for full formatting and editing, versus inserting images into cells, which ties them directly to row and column adjustments for innovative uses such as status symbols or legends. The course then explores SmartArt graphics, pre-built diagrams for processes, hierarchies, and relationships, showing how to insert, edit, and format these diagrams using SmartArt Design and Format tabs. Students will also learn about inserting and customizing icons, which scale cleanly without loss of quality and can be styled with fills, outlines, and effects to highlight important information. Additional lessons focus on WordArt and text boxes, demonstrating how these tools can be used for headings, callouts, and supporting details inside or outside charts. Learners will gain confidence in resizing, moving, and formatting these objects to match workbook themes and professional standards. By the end of this training, participants will understand how to combine data with images, diagrams, and text elements to create visually appealing workbooks that communicate effectively, making their spreadsheets not just functional but also engaging and easy to interpret.
