Course description

Proofing a workbook is an essential step to ensure accuracy, professionalism, and accessibility before sharing or publishing spreadsheets. This course introduces the key proofing tools in Excel 365 that help users catch errors, standardize language, and improve collaboration. Learners begin with Find and Replace, a powerful tool for locating specific text or values across a worksheet or an entire workbook, with advanced options for case sensitivity, whole-cell matches, and replacement formatting. The course then explores Go To and Go To Special, which allow users to quickly navigate to named ranges or highlight specific content such as formulas, constants, notes, or errors. Participants also learn how to run the Spell Checker, which must be initiated manually in Excel, to catch misspellings, update word choices, and add new terms to the dictionary. The Thesaurus and Translation features are introduced as tools to refine wording or adapt text for multilingual contexts directly within the workbook. Beyond proofing language, the course covers collaborative tools, including the Resolve feature, which allows users to close out threaded comments while preserving the discussion history for future reference. Finally, the Accessibility Checker is demonstrated as a way to ensure spreadsheets are usable for all audiences, flagging potential issues such as merged cells, poor color contrast, or missing alternative text. By the end of this course, participants will know how to apply Excel’s proofing tools to polish workbooks, safeguard accuracy, and ensure documents are inclusive and ready for professional distribution.
