Course description

This course explains how to link and consolidate information across worksheets and workbooks to create accurate, updatable summaries and reports. It begins with an overview of how Excel connections work and how they allow data in one area to stay synchronized when related content changes elsewhere. You’ll see how structured relationships between sheets make it possible to gather and organize information from different sections of a workbook into a single, cohesive view. The course then explores how workbook-to-workbook links extend these principles across separate files, making it easier to analyze or summarize information stored by project, department, or time period while ensuring results remain consistent. You’ll learn how to view and manage existing connections, refresh linked values, and safely update or remove outdated links to maintain accuracy over time. The course also introduces methods for combining content from sources that share similar layouts through three-dimensional references, which simplify summarizing repeated structures across many sheets. For situations where layouts differ, you’ll explore the Consolidate feature, which gathers and aligns data using row and column labels to produce unified results without manual reentry. By the end, you’ll understand how linking and consolidation together support reliable reporting and streamlined data management across multiple files and worksheets, enabling clear insights and reducing repetitive work as information evolves
