Course description

This course builds on PivotTable fundamentals by focusing on organizing, analyzing, and formatting data for more effective reporting in Excel 2019. Participants learn to manage the PivotTable interface and work efficiently with the Analyze and Design tabs to improve usability and presentation. In the Analyze tab, learners re-engage PivotTable tools after clicking outside the table, restore or hide the Fields Pane, and adjust options such as Field Headers and the +/- buttons for expanding and collapsing grouped data. They also move, clear, refresh, and change data sources, and automate updates when files open to keep reports easier to maintain. These techniques keep PivotTables current and reduce upkeep across recurring reports. Grouping techniques, including organizing date fields by months or years, help produce summarized time-based views, and the course clarifies differences between working with data ranges and tables and when to use refresh or change data source commands. In the Design tab, users apply and customize PivotTable styles, banded rows, and borders, and manage subtotals, grand totals, and report layout options by switching between Compact, Outline, and Tabular formats. Learners repeat item labels, insert blank lines for clarity, and combine manual formatting with built-in styles for professional results. By the end, participants can structure, format, and maintain PivotTables so data stays accurate, clear, and effective.
