Course description

This course completes the PivotTable series by showing how to automate report generation with Filter Pages and extend data analysis using the PowerPivot add-in in Excel 2019. Participants explore the Show Report Filter Pages command, which automatically creates a separate worksheet for each unique value in a chosen filter field. This eliminates the need to manually duplicate PivotTables for each department, location, or category, allowing users to quickly produce individual, pre-filtered reports with the same layout. The lesson also shows how to examine the source data behind any summarized value by double-clicking a PivotTable result, which extracts the relevant records into a new worksheet for review. Learners see that these extracted tables are independent of the original data, supporting temporary investigation without affecting the main workbook. The second half focuses on enabling and exploring the PowerPivot add-in, turning Excel into a stronger data modeling environment. The training covers activating PowerPivot through Excel’s COM Add-ins menu, importing multiple tables into the data model, and defining relationships to enable relational analysis. Learners also format numeric fields, create calculated columns, and develop measures with formulas to expand analysis beyond standard PivotTables. By the end, participants can generate filtered reports, organize related tables through PowerPivot, and perform calculations with enhanced modeling tools for scalable, flexible Excel reporting.
