Course description
This course introduces Excel users to form controls, a set of interactive tools that enhance the functionality and user experience of worksheets. Learners explore various types of form controls such as buttons, check boxes, spinners, and combo boxes, gaining a practical understanding of how each can be implemented to streamline data entry and support spreadsheet-based analysis. The course begins by explaining the differences between standard form controls and ActiveX controls, focusing on how form controls can be used effectively without requiring any coding knowledge. Demonstrations include inserting check boxes for simple binary responses, configuring spinners for controlled numeric input, and using combo boxes to create drop-down selection lists that link to worksheet data. Each form control is formatted and customized using Excel’s built-in settings, with emphasis on cell-linking to dynamically integrate user input with formulas and logical functions. This approach enables learners to develop interactive survey tools, rating mechanisms, and data selectors without leaving the Excel environment. Learners also review how to enable the Developer tab, access controls, and configure basic properties like value ranges, default settings, and linked cells.
