Course description

This course covers the comprehensive protection features available in Excel 365 to help safeguard worksheet content, workbook structure, and sensitive information. Learners are introduced to multiple layers of protection, including individual cell-level controls, worksheet protection, and workbook-level restrictions. The course begins by demonstrating how to encrypt a workbook with a password for access or editing permissions, and how to set different passwords for opening versus modifying a file. It then explores how to apply worksheet protection to control what users can select, edit, or view, and how to create editable ranges within protected sheets for selective input. Users will learn to designate specific cells as locked or hidden and understand how these attributes function once protection is applied. The course also walks through how to restrict changes to the workbook’s structure, such as preventing the reordering, hiding, or deletion of worksheets. Additional security features, such as marking a workbook as final, adding digital signatures for file integrity, and assigning user-specific permissions in domain environments, are also covered. Each feature is demonstrated with step-by-step guidance to help learners make informed decisions about the appropriate level of protection for various use cases. By the end of the course, users will gain a clear understanding of how to apply Excel's security tools effectively to maintain control over their workbooks and protect important data.
