Course description

Excel 365 offers advanced PivotTable and PowerPivot tools for users who need more than basic data summaries. This course explores specialized features that provide greater control, deeper insights, and expanded reporting options. Learners will begin by revisiting the PivotTable and PivotChart Wizard—a legacy tool still available for those who prefer a step-by-step setup process. From there, the course moves into creating calculated fields, where explicit calculations can be defined and reused across multiple PivotTables. Learners also practice creating calculated items, which combine descriptive elements within a PivotTable to generate consolidated group values without requiring collapsible groupings. The course then covers applying conditional formatting to PivotTables, including how to scope rules so that they target totals, groups, or specific levels of data. This ensures that formatting is applied logically and avoids cluttered displays. Another advanced feature, report filter pages, allows users to automatically generate multiple worksheets filtered by a chosen field, which is particularly useful for producing segmented reports at scale. By the end of the course, learners will understand how to enhance PivotTables beyond default summaries, create explicit and reusable calculations, apply formatting rules with precision, and automate the generation of filtered views. These advanced PivotTable and PowerPivot techniques enable more efficient workflows, richer analysis, and more professional reporting outputs in Excel 365.
