Course description

Excel workbooks often contain multiple worksheets or even require connections across different files, and linking data effectively can save significant time while ensuring accuracy. This course introduces learners to the tools and techniques in Excel 365 that allow values to flow seamlessly between worksheets and workbooks. It begins with creating formulas that pull information from other worksheets or entirely separate files, demonstrating how Excel builds references and how those links update dynamically when the source values change. Learners will also explore how to manage workbook links from the Data tab, including refreshing and editing connections or breaking them if necessary. The course then covers 3D references, a powerful feature for summing or analyzing data across multiple worksheets arranged in a sequence. Participants will see how 3D ranges can simplify calculations but also learn best practices for avoiding errors when reordering or inserting sheets. The Consolidate feature is also introduced, which enables users to combine values from different ranges, worksheets, or even workbooks, using functions such as SUM or AVERAGE, while respecting labels for accurate alignment. Options for linking consolidated data back to source ranges are also explained. By the end of the course, learners will understand how to link data across worksheets and workbooks, apply 3D references to streamline calculations, and use the Consolidate tool to merge information efficiently. These techniques provide a strong foundation for building connected, scalable, and easily maintained Excel workbooks.
