Course description

PivotCharts and slicers in Excel 365 extend the power of PivotTables by adding interactivity and visual clarity, making data easier to analyze and present. This course introduces learners to the creation, formatting, and customization of PivotCharts, as well as the use of slicers and timeline slicers to filter and control reports. The course begins by showing how PivotCharts can be created from existing PivotTables or built alongside new PivotTable-PivotChart combinations. It also explains key differences in setup approaches and how to avoid unwanted changes between charts and tables when working without a data model. Learners then explore how to format PivotCharts using the same tools available in standard charts, including design styles, chart elements, axes, and legends. The course highlights how PivotCharts offer additional flexibility through field buttons and PivotChart Analyze options, while still supporting traditional formatting. Building on this foundation, the course covers adding slicers—visual filters that allow quick, intuitive filtering by categories such as agents or products—and timeline slicers, which are specifically designed for filtering by date. Finally, learners will discover how to format slicers for clarity, adjust captions, and connect slicers and timelines to multiple PivotTables or PivotCharts to create interactive dashboards. By mastering these features, learners will be able to present dynamic, customized views of their data, quickly answer key questions, and enhance the usability of their Excel reports.
