Course description

Named ranges in Excel 365 provide a powerful way to simplify formulas, improve readability, and streamline navigation within workbooks. This course introduces learners to what named ranges are, the rules for creating them, and why they are valuable for working with data. Instead of relying on confusing cell references such as C3:J700, users can assign meaningful names like “JanuaryValues” or “EastRegion,” making formulas more intuitive and easier to understand. The course demonstrates multiple methods for creating named ranges, beginning with the Name Box for quick creation and the Define Name dialog for more detailed configuration, including scope and descriptive comments. Learners will also see how to generate multiple named ranges at once using the Create from Selection feature, which automatically builds ranges based on row or column labels. With these tools, it becomes easier to build formulas that reference meaningful names rather than cell addresses, improving clarity for anyone reviewing the workbook. The course also explores the Name Manager, a central hub for viewing, editing, filtering, and deleting named ranges across the workbook. This provides control and flexibility when working with large datasets or when ranges need to be updated. By the end of this course, learners will understand how to create, apply, and manage named ranges to enhance formula efficiency, improve workbook readability, and support better organization within Excel.
