This course guides SharePoint site owners through creating communication sites and subsites, and using site usage analytics to manage visibility and performance. Learners begin by comparing Team Sites and Communication Sites, discovering that while both share core SharePoint functionality, they serve different purposes; Team Sites support collaboration, whereas Communication Sites focus on organization-wide information sharing. Step-by-step demonstrations show how to create a communication site, choose templates, define names, shorten URLs, and configure language and access settings. Participants see how communication sites omit Microsoft 365 Group mailboxes and calendars, prioritizing full-width layouts and simplified navigation for publishing announcements, reports, or updates. The course emphasizes naming conventions, consistency, and design practices that enhance readability and accessibility. Learners then explore subsites as self-contained sections within a parent site that retain core features while allowing unique permissions, designs, and content structures.
