Course description

This course introduces learners to creating and managing lists in SharePoint 365, focusing on how lists organize, track, and process structured information. Unlike libraries that store files, lists hold data in a table-like format, acting as lightweight databases within SharePoint. Lessons begin with how lists capture and manage information such as requests, tasks, or inventories, and how they integrate with Power Apps for customized data entry and with Power Automate to trigger workflows like approvals or notifications. Step-by-step demonstrations show how to create a new list from scratch, duplicate an existing list, or import data from Excel or CSV files, emphasizing best practices such as starting with a blank list to maintain control over column types and data accuracy. Learners then add and modify columns using data types like text, choice, date and time, person, number, and yes/no to tailor structure to business needs. Practical examples cover creating dropdown menus, managing user fields through the organization directory, and applying formatting for clarity and consistency. Finally, participants add and edit data using standard forms and grid view for faster entry, including bulk updates and copying and pasting from Excel while maintaining accurate column mapping and user recognition. By the end, participants can build efficient SharePoint lists that store data reliably, support automation, and improve team productivity.
