Course description

This course teaches learners how to manage files in SharePoint 365 by moving, viewing, editing, and tracking versions to keep document libraries reliable. It begins with file movement, explaining that each document has a unique ID that allows relocation without losing metadata or version history. Learners use the Move To and Copy To options to transfer items between libraries or sites while preserving historical information and ownership details. Demonstrations show moving multiple files, creating destination folders, and avoiding downloading and re-uploading, which can break version continuity. Learners see how internal references update automatically when files are moved within the same SharePoint environment. The course then covers viewing and editing, showing how Microsoft documents open in the browser or in desktop apps. It compares quick browser edits and co-authoring with desktop features such as Power Query and Excel data connections, and highlights integration with Office apps so files can be reopened from recent documents. Participants also learn which file types require downloading before editing and how synchronization can streamline that process. The final section explains version history, including major and minor versions, viewing who changed what, restoring prior versions, and accessing version history within SharePoint or Microsoft apps to recover earlier states. By the end, learners can move and manage files while preserving history, accuracy, and productivity.
