Course description

This course provides SharePoint 365 users and site owners a clear, hands-on understanding of how to control access to site content and create effective site navigation for better usability. Learners explore how permissions work in SharePoint, including inherited access, group-based permissions, and role levels such as owners, members, and visitors. Lessons show how to use the Site Permissions panel and Advanced Permission Settings to add, remove, or adjust access for users and groups. Participants learn to create new SharePoint groups, assign appropriate permission levels, and follow best practices such as keeping site owners as the group owners for consistent administrative control. The course then covers unique permissions for lists and libraries, including stopping inheritance, assigning exclusive access, restricting sensitive content, raising or lowering access for specific groups, granting individual permissions when necessary, and configuring item-level permissions so users can only view or edit their own entries. Finally, learners improve usability by configuring site navigation: editing quick launch links, adding links and labels, organizing nested hierarchies, adding pages through Promote, and switching between vertical and horizontal layouts using Change the Look. The training demonstrates cascading and mega menu designs to match site structure and content volume. By the end of the course, learners can manage permissions confidently, apply unique access settings, and build intuitive navigation.
