Course description

This course helps SharePoint site owners create, customize, and manage views that improve how users interact with data in lists and libraries. Learners begin by exploring public views, understanding their purpose as shared configurations visible to all site members, unlike personal views which remain private. The lessons demonstrate how to create new public views from both the list and library interfaces, rename them, and adjust their visibility. Participants learn how to modify visible columns, reorder data fields, and group content dynamically to make information easier to find and interpret. The training emphasizes how to save and update views properly, identifying when changes require manual saving to preserve new configurations. Learners also explore how to enter the classic “Edit Current View” interface, which provides greater control over sorting, filtering, grouping, and other advanced view settings. This includes creating two-level sorts, applying conditional filters using dynamic variables such as [Today] and [Me], and controlling whether grouped data appears collapsed or expanded by default. Participants also learn how to limit item counts, control folder visibility, and delete views when they are no longer needed. The course then expands into advanced view types available in modern SharePoint. Learners discover how to create calendar views to visualize date-based data, selecting start and end date columns and customizing which fields appear on calendar entries. They then explore gallery views, which display records as cards, learning how to add or remove fields to highlight key data. Finally, the course covers creating board views—also known as Kanban views—using choice columns to organize items by categories or status. Learners see how to drag and drop items between columns and automatically create new category values as needed. By the end of this course, site owners will know how to design efficient, meaningful views that help users navigate, visualize, and manage SharePoint list and library content with greater clarity and control.
