Course description

This course teaches SharePoint site owners how to configure regional settings and navigation to ensure consistent site behavior and user experience across locations. Learners begin with regional settings, adjusting the site’s time zone, locale, and calendar preferences, and seeing how time zone choices affect the display of dates and timestamps in lists, libraries, and site activity. The lessons show how to make changes through Site Settings, select the correct locale for currency, date formats, and language variations, and fine-tune options like work week settings or calendar type to match organizational schedules. The course then transitions to navigation, reviewing the top links navigation and how it can still be enabled through classic settings, and explaining how modern SharePoint replaces this approach with hub site navigation that provides a unified top navigation bar across connected sites. Participants learn how to connect a site to a hub site, inherit its top navigation, and support consistent structure and branding, while understanding why using both top links and hub navigation together can create confusion and why hub navigation is preferred. Finally, learners work with the Quick Launch navigation pane, editing, reordering, grouping, and removing links, adding labels, building dropdown hierarchies up to three levels deep, and adding pages or document libraries automatically using options like Promote or Display on Quick Launch.
