Course description
This course introduces learners to document libraries in SharePoint 365 and how they support file storage, organization, and collaboration within a site. Participants begin by learning what libraries are, how they differ from lists, and the types of content they store, including Microsoft Office documents and other supported formats, along with organizational storage limits and best practices for structuring content. Learners explore ways to manage large numbers of files using folders and understand how SharePoint’s view threshold can affect performance. The lessons then cover the library interface and toolbar options for creating, uploading, syncing, and viewing files, including OneDrive for Business integration for offline access and synchronization. Through examples, learners see how to create documents directly in a library using built-in Office templates and upload files individually or in bulk using drag-and-drop or the upload menu. The course highlights how SharePoint libraries connect with Microsoft Office apps so users can open and save files directly to and from SharePoint. Learners practice viewing and editing in the browser or desktop apps, understand how permissions affect editing access, and how cloud-based saving helps maintain version consistency. The lessons also address when to download copies versus edit originals, switching between viewing and editing modes, and how automatic saving works in both environments. By the end, learners can navigate libraries, upload and manage files, and choose effective editing methods.
