Course description

This course introduces learners to the fundamentals of permissions, access, and site functions in SharePoint 365. Participants learn how permissions determine what users can view, edit, and manage, and how they’re inherited across site structures. The course explains read, contribute, edit, and full control access levels and how each affects the ability to view, create, modify, or delete content. Learners see how permissions are managed through groups, how inheritance can be broken to restrict sensitive lists or libraries, and how access combines when users belong to multiple groups. The course then explores Site Contents, Site Settings, and the Recycle Bin for navigating, locating, and recovering content. Participants identify lists, libraries, and subsites in Site Contents, view usage metrics, and understand that visible elements depend on their access. Lessons on the Recycle Bin show how deleted items can be restored within retention limits and introduce the secondary recycle bin managed by administrators. Finally, learners use SharePoint search to locate content, including results from file metadata and document text, and practice searching from the homepage, lists, and libraries to see how context changes scope and results. By the end of the course, learners will understand how permissions affect daily actions, how to manage site content responsibly, and how to recover or find information across their SharePoint environment.
