Course description
This course explores how to manage, organize, and maintain files in SharePoint document libraries. Participants learn when and why to use folders, including organizing content by category or permission level, and how efficient naming practices help avoid long URLs. Learners see how folder structures help manage large libraries, especially when working with many items, and learn how to create folders, navigate between them, and understand permission inheritance for subfolders and their contents. The course demonstrates moving files between folders or entire libraries using drag-and-drop and the Move to option, including scenarios such as archiving documents or relocating content to the correct location while maintaining durable links. Learners see how to manage library views by switching between list, compact list, and tile layouts, and use Pin to Top to highlight important or frequently accessed documents, pinning up to three items and reordering or removing them as priorities change. Additional lessons show how to rename documents and folders from the browser or desktop applications, and how name changes affect existing versions. The final section covers deleting items safely, explaining how files and folders move to the Recycle Bin and can be restored within retention limits. By the end, learners can confidently organize, relocate, highlight, rename, and remove content while keeping libraries structured and accessible for team collaboration.
